Product Description

The Soul of Bombay Batik: From Artisan’s Hands to Your Wardrobe

Batik Design Block Making Process

Each Bombay Batik design begins with a hand-carved wooden block. Every block brings out unique, authentic patterns in our handcrafted fabrics.

Batik Fabric Printing Process

In the Batik printing process, hot wax is carefully applied using handcrafted blocks to create intricate patterns.

Batik Colour Dyeing Process

After wax printing, the fabric is dipped into rich, natural dyes. The waxed areas resist the color, creating stunning contrast and detail.

Final Finishing

In the final step, the fabric is gently heated and washed to remove the wax.

Bombay Batik

We offer authentic handcrafted batik prints made with wax-resist dyeing – soft, vibrant, double-sided, and truly one-of-a-kind, unlike machine-made copies.

Wax Melting Process

Pure wax is melted at controlled temperatures to the right consistency for printing

Wax Printing (Application)

The hot wax is applied with hand-carved blocks, creating resist patterns on the fabric.

Colour Dyeing Process

Once the wax design is printed, the fabric is dipped into vibrant, natural dyes.

Batik De-waxing Process

The fabric is then washed and dried, leaving behind a soft, breathable, and handcrafted textile—true to Bombay Batik’s artisanal quality.

What Makes Batik Printing Style Unique?

Block Printing: An Artisan’s Devotion

Block printing is not just a process — it’s a living tradition. At Bombay Batik, our artisans:

Hand-carve wooden blocks, often spending days on a single design.Align and stamp each block by hand with precision and patience.

Screen Printing: Mass Made, Not Hand Made

Screen printing is a faster, semi-mechanical process where:

Designs are transferred through pre-made stencils and mesh screens. It delivers clean, uniform results — but lacks the personal touch found in hand block prints.

Digital Printing: Patterns Without Passion

Digital printing is quick and machine-driven:

Designs are printed directly from a machine — no hands, no heritage. It offers flawless speed, but brings zero human emotion, soul, or storytelling into the fabric.
