Great mattress, but choose the right thickness! (Detailed Guide)
The Initial Experience:Initially, I was skeptical about whether this mattress would be good. When I first switched, I actually had some body pain. Please don’t judge the mattress by the first few days! You are switching from an old surface to a new one, so your body needs time to adjust. Give it 4 to 5 days to take its full shape and for your body to get used to it.Thickness Advice (Crucial):My advice to everyone is to choose the thickness according to your weight.• If you weigh over 80 kg: Please go for the 8-inch or 10-inch version.• Side Sleepers: Do not choose the 6-inch version. If you sleep on your side, your body will sink about 1-2 inches, and the 6-inch mattress might not offer enough support.Hard vs. Soft Mattresses:Many older people prefer hard mattresses for back pain. While a hard surface helps muscles relax (since they don’t have to work to hold the vertebrae), it causes a different problem: Bone Pain.• When you force your body onto a hard surface, your muscles might feel better, but your bones (especially hips and neck) start to hurt because of the pressure.• This is especially true for ladies who may feel hip bone pain on hard beds.Why Ecolatex?• Material: This mattress uses High-Density (HD) foam, which is softer compared to “Rebonded” foam (which is just glued pieces of hard foam that breaks if compressed). The Ecolatex feels much better.• Heat & Climate: If you live in a hot climate, strictly choose the Ecolatex model. Even if you have back pain, avoid the Orthopedic Memory Foam model because memory foam retains heat and causes sweating. Ecolatex is cooling and much more comfortable for hot weather.Verdict:It might feel like it gives you back pain initially, but give it time. If you choose the right thickness (8 or 10 inches), it is a fantastic choice.Note on Edge Support:One final point to note: The side support (edges) of the mattress is not good for sitting. If you sit on the edge to put on shoes or relax, it will sink. It is designed strictly for sleeping, not for sitting on the sides.
